Dogs

It’s not uncommon to read about stray dogs in bad shape, so when Sharon Bertozzi spotted a sick dog curled up on her porch for four hours, she shared the story with her friends.

However, the surprise came later on when she realized that this “dogwas not actually a dog at all.

She immediately called the City of Folsom Animal Services to get the coyote some help. When rescuers arrived, they took a closer look at this animal and discovered that it was really a young coyote with an awful case of mange.

They immediately took the coyote back to their clinic where she was treated for her mange and dehydration. They decided to name her Princess and eventually transferred her to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue where she would receive further treatment.

Rescuers refused to give up on her, and after a long struggle, she perked up. She was using the litterbox again and eating regularly when she was given a medicated bath by caretakers.

Once Princess had recovered from sickness, she was able to return back into the wild. The animal rescue center put her in Sierra Wildlife Rescue where she was able to interact with another coyote while simultaneously recovering from a recent illness.

Soon after, Princess and her all-new coyote friends were released back into the wild on over 800 acres of beautiful open roaming land.
