NOTE: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many events have been cancelled. But here are some virtual events you can check out.
All month: Pet Wellness Month
8-10: Greater Philadelphia Pet Expo
Check out this family pet expo in Oaks, Pennsylvania. Don’t miss the Cat Education area, where breeders will present their breeds and household pets. You’ll learn about the breeds and what judges look for in the ring, as well as info about the cats and a grooming demonstration. Get up-to-date details at familypetshows.com.
13 Pet Obesity Awareness Day
Is your cat a little on the tubby side? Many pets in the United States are a bit overweight. Created by the Association for Pet Obesity prevention, this day reminds cat parents to make a few changes for the good of our kitties. Learn more at petobesityprevention.org.
14 to 24: Cat Art Show 4: A New Beginning
Presented by CatCon creator Susan Michals, this popular art exhibition dedicated to the feline form is back for a fourth time! Themes of satire, unconditional love and chaos will prevail! The exhibition will feature 80-plus works by 70 globally recognized and emerging artists, and the artwork ranges from sculpture to collage to painting and illustration. Every year, Cat Art Show donates a portion of its art sale proceeds. Works on view are for sale, and 10% of sales will benefit three organizations: Kitt Crusaders, Faces of Castelar and Milo’s Sanctuary. The event is free, but tickets are required, which you can get here.
16 Global Cat Day
Tell the world how ameowzing community cats are on this special observance day. Alley Cat Allies launched this as a day of action and publication years ago. Go to its website for tips and info on how you can help your community cats: alleycat.org.
27 National Black Cat Day
Black cats still need a little positive PR – their reputation as bad luck is well-known and, frankly, unearned. This day gives feline fans a chance to show off their black beauties and let everyone know how wonderful black cats truly are.
29 National Cat Day
Of course, every day should be National Cat Day, but this one day helps you celebrate your cat and cats around the country with lots of social media pics, treats, volunteering or cuddling.
31 Halloween
Keep your cats tucked safely inside on the most spooky night of the year. Although cats are traditionally thought of as a part of Halloween, they really aren’t into humans’ tricks and treats.
