Soldiers are selfless, heroic humans who lay their lives on the line to protect our country. Military servicemen and women leave their homes, sometimes for years at a time. They leave behind family, friends, and their pets to ensure our country is safe. One soldier named Hannah was at boot camp when she was finally granted leave over the holidays. She took the arduous journey back home, anticipating her family’s happy faces. Hannah lived with many animals, including an elderly Golden Retriever. The pup had missed Hannah so incredibly much and wasn’t sure if she was going to return before it was his time to cross over the Rainbow Bridge.

When Hannah exited the vehicle and walked up the driveway, the pup, despite his advanced age, knew this was his human. He lunged at the door, begging to be let out to greet her. The two emotionally reunited after quite some time. Their reunion is what pure love looks like. Hannah dropped to the ground, eager to pet her pup, and he laid down with his head right on her lap. He continued to sit up and look at her to ensure he wasn’t dreaming. His human was actually there!

Hannah spoke to him as the old boy cried and whimpered. He was telling her that he had been waiting for her to return and it pained him that she had been away for so long. The video is incredibly emotional. It proves that our dogs will love us forever no matter what. One YouTube commenter put it perfectly, “A dog may be a small part of your life, but for a dog, you’re their whole life.”
