What is Pseudomonas Aeruginosa?

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a disease-causing microorganism that’s found in the environment. It spreads the fastest in healthcare settings. It can be life-threatening to humans and animals, especially those who are immunocompromised. This bacteria could lead to skin, ear, and urinary infections for dogs and cats.

Here are some symptoms of a Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection:

  • Ear scratching
  • Head shaking
  • Ear redness
  • Ear discharge
  • Itching
  • Increased urination
  • Blood in urine
  • Painful urination

If you notice one or more of the above symptoms, contact your vet right away. If your pet consumed the recalled supplements, it’s also important to notify your vet, even if they haven’t shown symptoms yet. It’s always better to be safe than sorry with your furry friend’s health.
