Taylor Nichols heard what sounded like a cat when she was at work late last month. Upon investigation, she discovered a tiny kitten all alone inside a cardboard box.

“The kitten was found in a box in an enclosed area at an office building near Van Nuys, California,” Ryann Torrero shared with Love Meow. “He was very scared at first and unsure about humans. Being so tiny and without his momma or siblings, it’s completely understandable.”

The kitten, named Beans, was hesitant to come out of the box. He hissed, cried, and used his instinct to intimidate and hide. “After a bit of patience and love, Beans realized this human was no threat and started to trust.”

Slowly but surely, Beans came out of his shell. When he was petted on the back, he let out the sweetest rumbling purrs and melted into Taylor for more head scritches.

Knowing that the kitten was alone and needed care, Taylor sent out a plea on social media, in hopes of getting him into a rescue. That’s when Ryann came across the posts, and she sprang into action.

Ryann picked up the kitten that afternoon and contacted her local rescue group, Baby Kitten Rescue (in Los Angeles), to inquire about a foster home for the kitten.

“I told her we were full but we would back her and take him into the rescue if she could foster him. And she agreed,” Caroline Grace, the founder of Baby Kitten Rescue, shared with Love Meow.

“She picked up supplies that day and I gave her guidance on how to care for him. Beans was about 5-6 weeks old and already eating wet food like a champ.”

On the first night home, Beans was a bit nervous but trying his utmost to trust. “He would hide under the bed and then come out a little to receive some cuddles and pets, and then run back under the bed,” Ryann told Love Meow.

The next day, Beans mustered the courage and emerged from hiding with a new attitude. He was no longer fearful and started to play with toys and explore his new abode.

“We began to see his very fun, lovable, mischievous personality.”

Beans was so pleased to be clean and free of fleas after a much-needed bath. He turned into a fluffy ball of energy, running around the room, getting zoomies.

“After a couple of days, we were able to see Beans’ trust and understanding that he was safe. His personality was coming out in full force.”

Beans is reveling in his new life as an indoor cat. He has good food, plenty of toys, and warm beds, but most importantly, he has a loving foster family that caters to his every need.

Ryann and her boyfriend take turns to hang out with Beans, who has brought so much joy and entertainment to the couple over the last few days.

“He is extremely curious and mischievous. He loves to cuddle and to be in close contact with his people. He purrs anytime he receives lovings and cuddles. He is precious, funny, sneaky, sweet and everything you could want in a kitty.”

“Beans loves to lay in the sun in the afternoons, fall asleep touching you somehow, chase his little soccer ball, sneak attack if you’re not paying attention,” Ryann shared with Love Meow. “He has so much fun challenging himself with jumping off things.”

The little shy kitten has transformed into a major love-bug. He is enjoying his VIP life and soaking up all the attention.

“The best part was seeing him fall asleep with a full belly, after a warm bath, in big fluffy blankets knowing he was safe. Now, he’s the cutest, happiest, fluffiest little bean burrito.”
