Animals in need can often be found in the most surprising and hazardous places, and one recent incident in Ohio proved just how true that can be. A tiny kitten narrowly escaped a dangerous situation at a car wash, thanks to the quick thinking and compassion of the staff. Now, this little survivor is searching for a loving home. On August 21, the Fayette Regional Humane Society shared a remarkable story of a kitten who survived a terrifying ordeal, all thanks to the alertness and swift action of employees at Ultimate Shine Car Wash in Washington Court House, Ohio.
The six-week-old orange-and-white Tabby kitten was discovered drenched and visibly distressed by the car wash staff. The kitten, who had been hiding somewhere inside the wash, was suddenly knocked from his spot by the force of the powerful turbo blasters. This left him in the direct path of high-pressure water jets, putting his life in grave danger. Fortunately, his desperate cries for help did not go unnoticed.
“I heard a kitten meowing and followed the sound until I found him,” said Kierra Mills, a team lead at Ultimate Shine Car Wash, according to the Humane Society’s Facebook post. “He looked terrified, soaking wet, and shaking, so I brought him inside our main office and began drying him off as quickly as I could.”
The kitten, now affectionately named “Turbo Rinse” in honor of his dramatic rescue, was immediately taken to the Fayette Regional Humane Society for a thorough examination. Thankfully, Turbo Rinse was found to be unharmed and without any injuries. The Humane Society expressed deep gratitude for the car wash employees, whose vigilance and quick response likely saved the kitten’s life.
The National Park Service has a plan to potentially euthanize up to 170 feral cats under the guise of nuisance control. Demand a policy that protects these cats!
“This could have ended very differently if not for the attentiveness of the car wash staff,” said Brad Adams, Chief Humane Agent for the Fayette Regional Humane Society. He also reminded the community, “It’s a reminder to always check under your vehicle, especially if you have cats or kittens on your property.”
Turbo Rinse is now safe and comfortable and receiving the care he needs. He will soon be vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered before being made available for adoption. With his ordeal behind him, this brave little kitten is looking forward to finding a forever home.
