As pet owners, we love our furry companions dearly. But let’s face it – they can leave behind a trail of hair, odours, and messes that can be challenging to tackle.

Fear not, as we’ve got you covered with some innovative cleaning hacks that will keep your home looking and smelling fresh, no matter how many four-legged friends you have.

Andrew Leal, an expert in pet-care and the co-founder and CEO of Waggel, shares his innovative cleaning hacks tailored specifically to pet owners, to help you maintain a fresh and clean home without sacrificing the joy of having furry friends.

Taming the Fur Tornado

“Pet hair seems to have a way of finding its way onto every surface imaginable”, jokes Andrew.

To combat this furry foe, try using a rubber glove or a squeegee to collect hair from furniture and carpets. For clothing, a lint roller or a piece of duct tape can work wonders. And don’t forget to vacuum regularly, using attachments designed specifically for pet hair.

Banishing Odours and Stains

Accidents happen, and pet odours can linger if not addressed promptly.

Andrew shares, “Baking soda is your secret weapon here – sprinkle it liberally on affected areas, let it sit for a while, and then vacuum it up.”

For tough stains, reach for an enzyme-based cleaner, which can break down organic matter and neutralise odours.

Cleaning Pet Messes

Accidents happen, but with the right approach, you can clean up quickly and effectively.

“Enzyme-based cleaners are your best friend when it comes to tackling stains from pet urine, faeces, or vomit, Andrew explains. “These cleaners work by breaking down the proteins in the stains, eliminating both the mark and the odour.”

For a homemade solution, a mix of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap can be highly effective. Apply the mixture, let it sit for a few minutes, and then blot it up with a clean cloth.

Eco-Friendly Solutions

If you prefer a more natural approach, try making your own pet-friendly cleaning solutions.

“A simple mixture of vinegar and water can work wonders on surfaces,” explains Andrew, “while essential oils like lemon or lavender can help freshen the air.”

Regular Maintenance is Key

Consistency is very important when it comes to ensuring your home is clean and pet-friendly.

Establish a routine for vacuuming, mopping, and spot-cleaning, and stick to it. This will not only keep your home looking its best but also help prevent the buildup of pet hair, odours, and messes.

Andrew says, “Pets bring a lot of joy, fun, and love into our lives. However, the truth of the matter is, they also come with their own kind of cleaning challenges. By putting these innovative cleaning hacks into practice, pet owners can enjoy a clean and fresh home while still enjoying the companionship of their beloved furry friends.”
