“We got an early Christmas gift last week…make that four early gifts,” Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR) shared.
A Good Samaritan came across a young stray cat lingering around an apartment complex. She was heavily pregnant and extremely friendly, approaching people for attention. With nowhere to go, the finder reached out to her local rescue for help.
The cat seemed ready to give birth at any moment and urgently needed a safe place. Despite being full, volunteers at CBCR sprang into action and made room for the expectant mom.

The sweet tortoiseshell was very grateful for a roof over her head and round-the-clock “room service.” She climbed onto her foster carer’s lap for cuddles, closing her eyes contentedly and filling the room with soothing purrs.
Forty-eight hours later, they walked into the foster room to a delightful surprise.

The tortie, named Synergy, gave birth to four beautiful kittens in the comfort of her foster home. Just two days ago, she was roaming the streets, searching for food and shelter. Thanks to the timely rescue, her kittens avoided being born on the streets.
The foster mom supported Synergy every step of the way, ensuring all the kittens latched on and nursed well.

Synergy dove into mommy duties, spending her days cleaning and feeding her babies, rarely taking a break. With the help of her foster family, she never had to leave her little ones, as food was always within reach.
One of the kittens, also a tortie, bears a striking resemblance to her mom.

After fending for herself outside and surviving on whatever she could find, Synergy can now rest easy with her kittens by her side.
She showers them with love and cuddles, making sure each one is well fed and cared for. The kittens, born just before Christmas, have been named Jerrica, Jem, Rio, and Pizzazz after characters from the TV show “Jem and The Holograms.”

“Mama Synergy and her little band will remain in foster care for 8-10 weeks.” Once the kittens are ready to spread their wings, Synergy will retire from motherhood and finally enjoy being the center of attention in a loving family.
The kittens are getting bigger and stronger each day, wriggling around the nest and snuggling into their mom’s neck for extra comfort.

“New (rescue) requests for moms with babies and pregnant cats continue to come to us throughout winter due to our mild climate (in South TX).” Volunteers at CBCR are doing everything they can to provide care for as many strays in the area as possible.
In less than two weeks, the kittens’ eyes will open, and their ears will unfold. Their curiosity will soon have them exploring and taking their first steps out of the nest.

Thanks to the Good Samaritan and kind volunteers, Synergy was brought indoors just in time for her kittens to be born in comfort and warmth.
Now, they can all snuggle together and enjoy their first Christmas.
