Cats

A cat came as a mouser. After almost two decades, he is still a kitten at heart and has found the place of his dreams.

About 18 years ago, Midnight, the cat, came across a kind woman who fed and cared for the community cats near her building.

Friendly and appreciative, he quickly won the woman over and was taken in as a mouser. They stayed together until the woman retired and moved to a different state to live with her family. Sadly, they couldn’t bring Midnight along.

When Fior, a foster volunteer at Little Wanderers NYC, learned about the plight of the house panther, she welcomed him into her home.

Midnight quickly settled into his new quiet home, his gentle and serene nature shining through. He shadowed his foster family from room to room, always ready for petting and attention.

Even in his old age, with various health issues, Midnight wasn’t slowed down, especially when it came to playtime.

The moment he spotted his favorite toy, his youthful energy ignited, and he was ready to pounce. Forever a kitten at heart, Midnight never grew tired of chasing toys, doing what came natural to him as a mouser.

Fior ensured he stayed in good shape, ready for his next adventure. Not fond of being alone, Midnight longed for a home where he could spend his twilight years being cherished and cared for.

When a vet tech stumbled upon Midnight, she was smitten by his gentle gaze and sweet temperament. Understanding his needs, she was determined to give him a wonderful rest of his life.

At long last, his dream came true just last month. “He will continue to be well-loved, just the way he deserves,” Little Wanderers NYC shared.

Midnight moved into his forever home and quickly claimed his favorite spot: a cozy nook in the Winnie the Pooh honey pot bed.

In addition to being an adept mouser, he’s an expert cat “loafer,” keeping his front paws neatly tucked as he sits. He follows his forever family everywhere, drawn to soft blankets and the warmth of sunbeams.

Now, each morning, Midnight emerges from his comfy bed, stretches as big as he can, and makes a beeline to his human for pets and kisses. After his morning snuggles, he contentedly retreats for another nap.

He loves lounging in the sunlight with his people and listening to the TV. But the moment a wand toy appears, he springs into action, darting after it with impressive kitten-like speed.

He jumps onto the bed to be near his mom and offers soft purrs and gentle nuzzles, quietly pleading for affection. Nothing brings him more joy than being with his family.

“Look at those incredible eyes. One just wants to give him a big hug and kiss,” the vet tech shared.

These days, Midnight spends ample time snoozing, often accompanied by his new feline best friend. He will never be alone again now that he has a sister, Miss Tabby, to keep him company.

The two share the big bed, basking in the warm rays and cherishing their beautiful bond.

At 18 years old, Midnight still has the soul of a kitten, savoring quiet moments in the sun and occasionally bursting with playful energy.

With constant companions to share his golden years with, he couldn’t be happier to have found a place to call his own.
