The Biden White House has officially inducted a new member of the first family — Willow, a domestic shorthair feline.

According to the New York Times, First Lady Jill Biden has had her eye on the gorgeous creature for well over a year.

Who wouldn’t? Willow is an absolute stunner.

The Biden White House Is Officially Feline-Friendly

Willow stole the hearts of the Bidens back when Joe Biden was still campaigning.

Michael LaRosa, Jill Biden’s spokesman, tells the Times, “Willow made quite an impression on Dr. Biden in 2020 when she jumped on the stage and interrupted her remarks during a campaign stop.”

This presidential campaign stop was at a farm in Pennsylvania, where the First Lady is from. In fact, Willow is named after her hometown of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

Once the owner of the farm saw the “immediate bond” between Willow and Dr. Biden, it was all over.

Feline-Lovers Have Been Waiting For The First Cat’s Debut

Feline lovers have prompted quite a bit of pressure on the Biden White House to reveal their cat.

In a November interview, the First Lady suggested that there was a feline “waiting in the wings.” Since then, the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, has been asked about it — often.

“I’m also wondering about the cat,” Psaki answered in a Twitter Q&A, “Because the cat is going to dominate the internet.” And, indeed, she has.

Apparently, the delay in bringing Willow to the White House was two-fold. The Bidens weren’t sure how she would mix with Commander, their German Shepherd, for one. But also, Willow’s foster was quite taken with her.

In a prior interview, the First Lady commented, “I don’t even know whether I can get the cat back at this point.”

For now, everything seems to have been worked out and Willow seems to be adapting to White House life. LaRosa told the Times, “Willow is settling into the White House with her favorite toys, treats, and plenty of room to smell and explore.”
