Sisu, a stray dog living on the streets in North Carolina, was lonely and afraid. While on his journey to find food, he spotted a store. The store window displayed all types of goodies, from household gadgets to children’s toys. Sisu was only interested in one thing: a purple plush unicorn. The toy’s sympathetic eyes and soft fur stole Sisu’s heart immediately, but there was one problem. Sisu didn’t have the money or means to buy the unicorn. He watched as people went in and out of the store, longing for their access. He had to devise a plan to get to his plush soulmate.

The stray snuck inside the store, but the workers hurried him out. He didn’t belong there, and the stray population in the area was overwhelming. But Sisu persisted. He waited outside the store every day and walked back in whenever he could. But, alas, he was rejected time and time again. Still separated from his beloved unicorn, he paced outside, heartbroken. Finally, a worker, moved by Sisu’s plight, stepped up and made a call to Duplin County Animal Services.

The rescuers showed up quickly. The store worker explained to the animal control officers how clever Sisu was and how desperately they wanted him to find a home. One officer was so touched by Sisu’s mission to get to the unicorn that he purchased it himself before bringing them both to the shelter.
