When rescuers from PuppyKittyNYCity received a call about a cat abandoned in an apartment cluttered with discarded belongings, they sprang into action.

Upon arrival, they couldn’t see the cat immediately; he had taken refuge inside the kitchen cabinet under the sink. Terrified and confused, he huddled in a corner, letting out a pitiful wail as the door opened before him.

Volunteer rescuers gently coaxed him out with soothing words and quickly noticed his sweet and gentle nature.

With some encouragement, the cat emerged from hiding, scanning the apartment as if searching for his family. He perched his front paws on the windowsill, stretched up on tiptoes, and cried out the window, longing for a familiar face.

“He was left behind in the apartment when his owners moved out. We could hear the heartbreak in his cries,” Meagan, the founder of PuppyKittyNYCity, shared.

Realizing his family was gone, he turned to his rescuers and let out a plaintive meow, pleading for help.

Lovingly named Leonardo DiCatprio, the tabby finally settled into a comfortable carrier as volunteers transported him to the rescue. He charmed everyone he met, eagerly seeking pets and attention, his friendly nature never missing a beat.
