Training the puppies to not bite, but lick instead, is one of the most important lessons we can teach them for their futures.

This one behaviour is a real problem that becomes a ginormous problem from 6 months onwards if it’s not stopped early.

Each and every single shelter dog that came to the farm had a serious case of mouthing humans to the point that some drew blood whilst others turned into a full blown bite in excitement.

It’s very possible and likely that this was one of the contributing factors to their surrendering.

This problem is something that is best to be trained out of at the puppy stage.

So that’s what the rescue pups are focusing on this week and next.

Already we’re seeing such a difference after just 3 days. It’s a great lesson for these pups to learn here at the farm, so that it is not something that will put a strain on their relationship with their adopted family in the future.

Licks not nips. Well done puppies!!
